Viperpaw padded along the border looking for herbs. Cinderleaf was looking after a kit, and, with no med cat apprentece in site, she needed a runner. The while tom thought it would be a great oppritunity to get out of camp... oh StarClan was he wrong. Looking for dumb old plants was boreing; how could any cat take that destiny? He knew for certain that he would never take that dark, un-promiseing path, for certain!
'what did those plants look like?' The tom clenched his teeth tight. He could have been training by now! When he was leaveing the camp, the apprentices were being prept for battle training. Viperpaw growled, "All these look the same! Long green, and leafy!" The tom spat.

A black pelt flashed among the ferns on the RougeClan border. Darkness scented ShadowClan, but also a strong tint of RiverClan along that border. He padded up to the border was the strongest. He saw a white apprentice, looking among the plants for something.

Viperpaw walked around, in circles. going back inforth in a line. "Gah, she said it was here! How could any cat do this!" He hissed and cuffed a flower off it's stem. He was completely oblivious to what ever was behind him.

Young warrior. Darkness meowed deeply, his black pelt hiddin in the Shadows of the trees. His eyes glittered darkly, watching the tom's every move.

Viperpaw spun around. He tenitively padded foward, his eyes round with curiousity, and his wiskers fluffed foward, ready to attac at any moment's notice. 'What is this? Is someong playing a trick on me?' Viperpaw wondered. He has been a sour cat lately, but someone really want to confront him? It wouldn't be wise. Though he was an apprentice, he was very strong. Viperpaw squinted at the bushes infront of him. there was a faint outline of, a cat, or so he thought. The shadow covering the cat was too dark, and he couldn't see, who, or what it was. Had it been his imagination? "Who is there?" He growled, stalking back and forth impaitiontly.
What if it was a loner? Or, even a rouge! He could be a warrior THAT day if he chased it off of RiverClan terriotory! A hero even! Then cats would show him some actual respect. Viperpaw stopped suddenly, "I said show your self!" Viperpaw layed his ears back and bared his teeth.

Darkness padded out of the shadows, reluctently. Playing mind games with the apprentice was fun, but it wasn't going to get his bisnuss done. The black tom was not intimadated by how strong the apprentice appeared.

Viperpaw narrowed his eyes. This cat looked well kept, and couldn't decifer whether or not this tom was a loner, or a rouge. He smelled of the forest, so that cancled out a kittypet. The older tom seemed to be skinny though. Muscle build... and was not afraid of him. Not even a nervus blink, or flick of a tail? What was he here for? Viperpaw unleashed his claws, "I will give you 30 seconds to get off my territory." He growled, his eyes glinting with irratation. He was hopeing for the tom to state his busness, so he would waste his escape time, so, he could either tear him to peices, or drive him off RiverClan territory. "I am a well trained fighter, you better leave before things get.... messy." He growled, thrashing his tail, "I am not very paitiont I may let you know!" He stubbernly growled.

An apprentice like you woundn't last a minute against me. Darkness meowed a coldly calm, with a bit of laughter in his voice. Do you not think that I could beat you and your siblings if all three of you tried? he paused, thinking about what to reveal next. Do I not think that your father earned his right to be deputy?

Viperpaw hissed in rage. His paws were pulseing, as he struggled to redeem the ebbing ergh to lash out at the toms mussle. Who was he to critize him? Viperpaw was best in his class, as good as Tigerclaw himself! Then, he heard the slighest hint of laughter, which pushed him further. Under his breath, he growled, "You miserable little-" But then This, myterious un-named tom discontinued his sentence, "Do you not think that I could beat you and your siblings if all three of you tried?" Viperpaw thrashed his tail, blinded with rage, he almost diddn't catch it. He gazed down, and had a puzzled expresion, "How di-" Again, the black tom continued, "Do I not think that your father earned his right to be deputy?"
The breath, was dragged out of Viperpaw, faster than a Snakes strike. The white and brown striped tom stumbled backwards. He looked behind him, and then stood his ground. He refused to show vonerablility. As if a great wind was blowing him backwards, he dug his claws into the ground, and growled once more, "How do you know this!" He hissed, eyes glinting with rage.

Darkness just laughed. Do you think I am agnorent of my enemies, much less of my own kin? You aunt, now she is another story. Yes, she is a fine warrior, your father however, Leopardstar just felt sorry for him. He never was half the warrior Hawkflight was. It is quite a shame that she wouldn't join me in RougeClan, but RougeClan doesn't need her.

Viperpaw's eyes flashed with contemtment. Why was this cat telling him this? "I am no kin of yours." He growled. He did not disagree with the statment about his father, it was true. His father wasn't much of a deputy. But, he wasn't related to Hawkflight, was he? "I am not related to... That WindClan warrior." He growled. He had no clue what he was talking about, but he had a feeling he was about to fiind out.

Darkness shook his head. How do you know Brackendrop has been telling you the truth? Darkness looked in the tom's eyes. He saw the ambtion flaming behind the expression of wary and frustration as Darkness toyed with his mind.

Viperpaw flattened his ears as he thought. Why would his father lie to him? Then again, why would he tell the truth to him, either? Brakendrop wouldn't want his son to know that his sister was, WindClan deputy now would he? This was an intreging thought. Without further adu, he replyed, "I don't." He meowed confidently, "But, how do I know you are telling the truth?" He took a step foward, "I don't even know who you are let alone where you came from." 'Why is he toying with me?' Viperpaw thought.

I would assume your mentor has taught you the scent borders((Whoops ;D)) Darkness taunted. If not, I believe that you just crossed the RougeClan border. Darkness paused. Didn't I introuduce myself...if not, I am called Darkness by my fellow species, feared by many, and considered quite handsome by few...well pretty much my mate and those who envy my lifestyle. Darkness let a glint of humor in his eyes. Now, if my memory is correct, I heard that you follow the linige of Tigerstar in someway, is that correct? Darkness paused waiting for the apprentices awnser. It was common knowlegde that Hawkfrost had kits, just no one ever admitted that they were his.

The leaders before him, earned the right6 to be a Clan, not this tom, "Oh and, I don't eny you. There is nothing to be envyed," Viperpaw snickered, going up nose to nose with Darkness, "I don't care, if you rip my ears off, or tear out my lungs. I will die for my clan." He flexed his claws, and tensed his mascular figure. Very ambitios, he still will fight for his Clan. He ignoored his 'knolage'. all he was, was a big snoop, and all of that showed brightly in his eyes.

Darkness grinned. He'd make a good leader. he thought. He saw the bushes rustle, revealing a bracken-colored tabby tom.
Darkness. the tom hissed, standing behind the apprentice.
Brother. Darkness mewed, his tone sencere and gentler than normal. Have you re-thought my offer?
If your looking for a positve offer, this is not the place to find one. Brackendrop hissed. The tabby deputy flicked his tail as he disapeared into the bracken.

Viperpaw held his ground as the black colored tom grinned. Why was this cat, just toying with him? There is no point... or is there? Viperpaw got distracted a tad, as he was lost in his own mind. While his thoughts churned, round and round as if a whirl pool, he did not notice the cat that had joined Darkness and Viperpaw. "Darkness" Hissed what seemed to be a tom's voice, "You kno-" Viperpaw was cut off by Darkness, "Brother," There forth, the reply of darkness, genteler than normal 'what?!' "Have you re-thought my offer?"
Viperpaw whirled around, to see, his own father, "Father?" He said under his breath, in a shocked tone. His heart skipped a beat as his father, Brakendrop, replyed, "If your looking for a positve offer, this is not the place to find one." Brakendrop flicked his tail briskly. This short conversation was obviously over. Viperpaw mouthed something, as he saw his father leaveing. He flashed his head back from Darkness, and his father, until all he saw was Brakendrop's tail flash throught the bush. Viperpawglanced back at the black tom, and began to get uncomfertable. Thrashing his tail he had to make a decision. Finally, he made a decision. Since he had two unknown cats as relitives, both outside the Clan, he knew it was time to confront his father. He gave one more, hesitant glance at Darkness, then raced off after his father. he blicked as he disapeered through the bushes. "Father! Father, wait!" He called, getting iratated.

Brackendrop heard the shrbs behind him crash. He turned around seeing Viperpaw following him. What do you want, Viperpaw? Brackendrop asked, thrashing his bracken colored tail into a bramble bush.

Viprepaw growled at the fact that his father was asking him questions, "I should be asking the questions, father." He stopped, and sat before him, "Why did you not let me know of my own kin?" He hissed, "I am related to the deputy of WindClan, and Darkness!" Viperpaw bared his teeth. How could his father do that to him? Hawkflight is kin of Hawkfrost! And Hawkfrost, is kin of Tigerclaw. Relizeing how rude he was being, he stopped bareing his teeth, "Father, why did you not tell me?" He asked, a little softer.

The RiverClan deputy sighed. I was going to tell you. he said. But Blackclaw was training you whenever we could, so I never had the chance. Your mother didn't want you to know. She said that it would only encourge you to leave the Clan, and she wanted you to grow into strong loyal RiverClan warriors.

"What is the reason? How is that cat different? And what does my learning, have anything to do with it!" He asked, trying to repress his anger and rowls of fury. He was about to be a warrior, very soon. Any day now. He knew, every move, and he knew to be loyal. Wjat else was there to learn? Viperpaw thrashed his tail against the cold earth, "I am so tired of playing games with you; most of them, unvolintarily!" Viperpaw's eyes glinted with resentment, and repressed anger, "When will it be ended? When I am a warrior? On my death bed!" He turned away, thinking what other way to maybe turn him, or at least get him angrey. The white tom turned back, relizeing the solution, "I'm sorry, for talking back, father." He said briskly, "Just, just how deep are you going to bury it before you send me in after it?" He finiished.

Brackendrop sighed. Hawkflight left becase she didn't favor her RiverClan blood. She prefered the taste of the open moor and rabbits, not the taste of fish and the river. She wanted to be with her kin who shared her likes, your grandfather was a good warrior, but he broke the warrior code.

Brackendrop sighed. Yes, Viperpaw, he is. He was banished long before you were born. I was only a new warrior. He killed my father, mother, and his own mentor, and possibly more. But he could kill you with three swipes of his paw. That is what he trains every apprentice in his Clan. His deputy is even more terrible. You remember those stories your mother told you about BloodClan? Something deep inside of Brackendrop told him that he was going to regret this...

Viperpaw looked down at his paws, confused, with each passing word. His father's voice grew slower, with each passing word. "Banished?" He mumbled half to himself, and half to his father. He let his ears lay back in half acceptance of the cold, dark truth. "...You remember those stories your mother told you about BloodClan?" Viperpaw nodded meekly, and gazed back up at his father, awaiting a reply.
